Fast Travel & Map Exploration Guide

Vale Sangora is dense enough that walking everywhere eats into the one resource you can't get back — time. Here's how the shrine fast-travel network works, how to fix the ones Brencis's soldiers broke, and how Scouting Towers save you from wandering blind.

This guide reflects what's known shortly after launch (September 3, 2026), cross-checked across multiple independent community sources. Exact counts (shrines, towers) come from community tallies rather than an official source, so treat them as close estimates.

Shrines are your fast-travel network

Vale Sangora has roughly 111 shrines, marked on the map as a roofed structure with a cross on top. They're not just fast travel — shrines are also where you spend skill points and access your storage, which is why our skill trees guide and this one overlap.

To fast travel, interact with a shrine you're currently standing at and pick a destination from any shrine you've already unlocked — you can't jump to a shrine you haven't physically visited yet, so the network only grows as you explore.

Restoring destroyed shrines

About 17 of Vale Sangora's shrines start out destroyed — Brencis had their Shrine's Heart (also called an idol) stolen so they'd stop functioning. Finding a broken shrine and interacting with it kicks off a short investigation:

  1. Switch to Focus Mode near the shrine — you'll almost always pick up footprints leading away from it.
  2. Follow them to the Heart's location. It's usually held by a nearby soldier camp, guarded by soldiers actively trying to destroy the shrine, sitting on a corpse, or carried by a wild animal you'll need to fight.
  3. Recover the Heart and return it to the shrine to restore it.

Restoring a shrine almost always costs one time segment — worth remembering if you're mid-deadline on something else. See our beginner tips for why time management matters this much in the first place.

Scouting Towers: revealing the map

Vale Sangora has 11 Scouting Towers, and climbing one is the fastest way to fill in points of interest across a region instead of stumbling onto them on foot.

Clearing a Scouting Tower, step by step

Towers can only be scaled at night, since the climb depends on Shadowstep to get up the exterior and Planeshift to cross flat surfaces and ceilings that would otherwise be dead ends — both are night-only Vampirism abilities (see our day/night cycle guide for why). Once you reach the top, interact with each visible point on the horizon to add it to your map. Clearing all of them is tied to the "From Above" quest line and the Bird's-Eye View trophy.

Practical takeaway: clear the Scouting Tower for a region before you start grinding its side content — you'll spend a lot less time wandering once its points of interest are actually on your map. Save shrine restoration for shrines that sit near quest hubs you're already visiting, since each one nibbles a time segment you might want elsewhere.

Does restoring a shrine cost anything?
Yes, almost always one time segment, in addition to the trip to find and return its Shrine's Heart.
