The Blood of Dawnwalker · Character Guide
Where Anca represents Coen's humanity, Lacra represents the alternative — a vampire who's made her peace with what she is and wants Brencis dead anyway. Here's who she is, how her questline plays out, and where it leads.
Lacra is a Vrakhir — one of Brencis's own vampire spawn. According to her, Brencis mutilated her for refusing to take part in one of his plans, which she considered suicidal. She claims someone sent her to get rid of Brencis, though whether that story is completely true is left uncertain; she keeps her real intentions close and is driven, above all, by vengeance.
Unlike Coen, or Anca's influence on him, Lacra has no moral conflict about being a vampire — she opposes Brencis specifically, not vampirism itself. She's written as ferocious and ruthless in a fight, a sharp contrast to Anca's gentler, more grounding role in the story.
Lacra is found through the quest A Friend Like This, which involves dealing with Ambrus, one of the three Vrakhiri Court members — see our boss guides for that fight. Her questline is described as taking Coen from a violent first encounter to an uneasy alliance, and optionally, romance.
The shape of Lacra's arc
A Friend Like This → Song of the Mountain → Hive and Seek → Our Rotten Roots → The Night of Horrors (optional) → Midnight Reckoning. See our main story walkthrough for how this fits into the broader 30-day structure.
The turning point for Lacra's romance lands near the end of The Night of Horrors, where she offers Coen the Mandrake Flower — eating it and accepting her blood afterward is what locks the romance in, rewarding the Mandrake Ward Vampirism perk. Full detail on that choice and what it unlocks is in our romance guide.
Separately from romance, completing Lacra's full questline is what's required for The Patricide ending — fighting Brencis with her at your side. See our endings guide for how that compares to the other six outcomes.
Practical takeaway: if you're aiming for The Patricide ending, start Lacra's chain early — it's a full questline on top of the Vrakhiri Court fights, and both need to finish inside the same 30-day window. You don't have to romance her to get the ending; that's a separate, optional layer on top.
